How does self check-in with Nestrio work?
Reservation
The guest books the apartment on Airbnb, Booking or elsewhere. Nestrio picks up the reservation from your channel or PMS.
Link for the guest
Each reservation gets a unique link. It is valid only from check-in to checkout, and nothing is set up by hand.
Building door
The guest arrives and opens the front door from the link. No fob, no neighbour who has to let them in.
Apartment door
The same link opens the apartment. You get a notification that the guest is inside, and the opening is logged.
What does self check-in solve compared with handing over keys?
- You don't drive over to hand over keys or wait for a guest whose flight is late.
- You can accept late-evening and last-minute arrivals that would otherwise be lost.
- No key gets lost or copied. After checkout the link stops working on its own.
- Cleaners and technicians get their own time window, so you don't have to leave them a key.
- You know when the guest arrived. If they don't use the link, you can react before they call you with a problem.

Can the guest open the building's front door too?
Yes, and that is the difference from a smart lock on its own, which only opens the apartment. Nestrio connects to the building entrance through the existing intercom. Nothing changes or gets mounted on the outside of the front door, so there is no lengthy negotiation with the owners' association. The only condition is that the front door can be opened from the apartment.
Every entry is personal and logged. The building has a better overview than with keys that get copied and never returned, and it is safer for guests, for you and for the neighbours.

What is self check-in?
Self check-in means the guest checks in on their own, without meeting the host and without a key handover. With Nestrio the guest gets a unique link for each reservation and opens both the building door and the apartment from their phone. The link is valid only for the reservation.
Does it work with Airbnb and Booking?
Yes. Access is created automatically from reservations on Airbnb, Booking and other channels. You keep managing reservations and prices in your channel or PMS; Nestrio connects to the reservation flow.
What if the guest arrives at night or early?
The guest can check in at any time once the reservation is paid and the conditions for the stay are met, even at 2 am. If you agree on an earlier arrival or a later departure, the access window moves with the reservation.
What if the power or internet goes down?
The system is designed so that a power or internet outage does not stop access: the device has backup power and its own connection. If something happens in the apartment, you get an email or SMS alert before the guest gets in touch.
What does the building and the apartment need?
A smart or electromechanical lock on the apartment door: yours (for example Tedee) or one of ours on rental. We connect to the building entrance through the existing intercom, so nothing is mounted outside. The condition is that the front door can be opened from the apartment. In the buildings we have seen so far, that was possible in about 85 % of cases.
Does Nestrio also handle registering foreign guests and the guest register?
Yes. Once a reservation is paid, Nestrio adds the guest to the guest register and registers them with the Foreign Police, for each unit separately and without retyping anything.
